Tentmaking seminar brings Latin-America together

An online seminar on tentmaking that was run earlier this year, united people from nearly all Latin-American nations. “We believe this seminar will help more Latin-Americans to take the Gospel to the world,” says Gustavo Borges, one of the main persons behind the online event.

The seminar was run every Thursday in February and covered basic information and encouraging insights for people who consider serving God through working, doing business or studying cross-culturally.

“Many Christians from Latin America move abroad as expat workers, entrepreneurs and post-graduate students. The seminar gave us a great opportunity to share the tentmaking vision with such people. We want to help the Christians who go to be more intentional in sharing the Gospel, says Gustavo Borges. He serves as the director for Tent Brazil. Among the others who took part in planning the seminar, were Mirka Pena, director for Tent Dominicana and Phill Sandahl, director for Global Intent/Tent USA.

15 nations

More than 40 people from 15 different nations took part in this first run in Spanish of the seminar that is named “GO Experience”. Previously, the seminar has only been run in Portuguese, mostly for Brazilians. The feedback from the participant has been very good. So was the response from the 40 partakers at the first Spanish version of GO Experience.

“It was amazing to see people from four different time zones and 15 nations getting together and greeting each other in the same language and with the same joy. The participants were very much looking forward to our gatherings each week,” shares Gustavo Borges.

Stronger movement

He hopes that the seminar can strengthen the tentmaking movement in Latin-America. For now, there are Tent-branches in Dominican Republic and Brazil.

“Hopefully some of the attendants will get a desire to see the movement established in their own nations. This will make it easier to run Tent’s follow-up courses and programs, says Borges.

He promises that there will be new seminars coming up shortly.

“We plan to run a new Spanish version of the seminar in May or June. Currently we are also running a seminar in Portuguese. In addition, seminars in English are being planned.” Information about all seminars and courses are posted on our website at www.tentinternational.org, says the Tent Brazil director.
